Northern Accelerator spin-out, Sphera, has been accepted onto the Tech Nation Net Zero 2.0 programme, which is supporting the UK’s most promising climate tech companies to drive down environmentally harmful emissions.
Founded in September 2019, Sphera is developing low carbon, next generation construction materials. They’re currently focused on a world-first – carbon zero and carbon negative concrete blocks.
Durham University supported Sphera’s founders, Phil Buckley, Natasha Boulding and Scott Bush, through 1:1 coaching and business workshops and they won the university’s 2019 Blueprint Start Up Challenge.
They also secured pre-incorporation funding from Northern Accelerator, participated in Future Founders training and benefitted from our Executives into Business programme.
Sphera were accepted onto the programme along with Durham start-up Tred, founded by two engineering graduates.
